“It was absolutely riveting, beautiful. Beautiful. It’s very nice to see a show that concentrates on the highest and the best of humanity. I think there’s a propensity these days to concentrate on the ugliness and the ultra-violence, and sort of the lowest that humanity has to offer. And this is the opposite of that—it’s very uplifting. And very culturally fascinating. There was a lot of subtlety and an excellent communication between the stage and the audience, I thought… The live music was phenomenal. What a treat to have Chinese instruments, traditional Chinese instruments, with some Western instruments as well. The sound was very transporting… The choreography, absolutely beautiful, and so sharp—the synchronization, the choreography was very, very tight. It was beautiful to watch. Very, very, very well-trained. And, fascinatingly, I had no idea that the jumps and the tumbles originated from ancient Chinese dance, and not from acrobatics. That was new to me, so I’m glad to know that. They’re very skilled indeed, all of them… I hope there’s a day in the near future where the arts can return to China, and shows like this can be seen.”
