Haolan Geng
Soprano
Known for her formidable and emotive voice, Haolan Geng won the gold medal at the First Music Competition of the Guangdong Arts Festival in 2007. A graduate of the Guangzhou Conservatory of Music, she earned critical acclaim for her 2008 graduation recital. She later went on to star with the Guangdong Opera Company, and gained international attention in 2009 upon winning first prize in New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Chinese Vocal Competition. In 2021, she starred in Shen Yun’s original opera A Song for You.
Min Jiang
Soprano
Min Jiang has had a flourishing career that began at age 17, when she was selected to perform professionally as a featured soloist with the Heilongjiang Province Arts Troupe. She has received coaching in both Chinese folk singing and Western vocal methods from many accomplished voice teachers, and has been an adjudicator for the New Tang Dynasty Television International Chinese Vocal Competitions since their inception in 2007. Since joining Shen Yun Performing Arts, she has given over 1,600 performances on many of the world’s great stages.
Rachael Yu Ming Bastick
Soprano
Rachael Yu Ming Bastick began the study of both music and dance at age 5, with early training in piano, violin, and singing. She performed regularly and won numerous youth competitions in her native Australia, before continuing her studies of dance and music in the United States. She graduated from Fei Tian Academy of the Arts and later pursued advanced studies in bel canto at Fei Tian College, both in New York. In 2022, she won third place at New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Chinese Vocal Competition and starred as Diao Chan in Shen Yun’s original opera The Stratagem.
Xiaochun Qi
Erhu
Xiaochun Qi is a graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 1991, she received the Performer’s Award at the 14th “Spring of Shanghai” International Erhu Competition. From 2004 to 2006 she performed in New Tang Dynasty Television’s annual Chinese New Year productions. Since joining Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2006, she has performed to tremendous acclaim while touring with the company.
Tian Li
Soprano
Tian Li began studying voice at age 7 before attending China’s Shenyang Conservatory of Music. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she then also pursued her master’s degree at the Conservatory. Tian Li has won awards at many vocal competitions. After auditioning into Shen Yun Performing Arts, she furthered her study of voice with D.F., professor at Fei Tian College, in the United States.
Thế Tùng Lâm
Tenor
Tenor Thế Tùng Lâm is a former soloist with the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet, where he performed many lead roles. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. In 2022, he won second place at New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Chinese Vocal Competition, and is now in his second season with Shen Yun Performing Arts.
Peng Huang
Baritone
Peng Huang began violin studies with his father at the age of 8. In 2000, he graduated from the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and joined the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, both in China. After moving to the United States and joining Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2014, he pursued advanced studies in bel canto with Fei Tian College professor D.F. in New York. In 2018, he won third place at New Tang Dynasty Television’s International Chinese Vocal Competition.
Gao Liang
Tenor
Gao Liang earned his master’s degree in vocal performance at the prestigious Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. He is the winner of multiple international singing competitions in Europe. Before joining Shen Yun, he starred in the principal roles of Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème, and Nemorino in Donizetti’s L'elisir d'amore, among many others. In 2022, he sang the principal role of Minister Wang in Shen Yun’s original opera The Stratagem.
